Know your rights
Oldham County regulates commercial door-to-door peddling under Chapter 111. The strongest enforceable issue in the Cherry Glen campaign is after-hours solicitation.
§111.07 — Prohibited times
Commercial peddling is not allowed during these times:
- Before 9:30 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Before 11:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday
- At any time after sunset or before sunrise
A pest-control sales visit at approximately 8:20 p.m. on a Friday appears to violate §111.07 unless it was a scheduled appointment or visit to an existing customer.
Licensing
Each salesperson generally needs an individual Oldham County peddler license. Ask to see it and document the response.
What to document
- Exact date and time (doorbell camera timestamps help)
- Whether a no-soliciting sign was visible
- Exact words you used to tell them to leave
- What they did after you told them to leave
- Whether you asked for a peddler license and their response
- Original video/photo — do not edit before preserving
Who to contact
- Oldham County Central Dispatch: 502-222-0111 — request an officer to take a report (do not rely on the online crime-tip form alone)
- Peddler program: oldhamcountypolice.com/peddler-program
- County Attorney (after police report): Criminal complaint process
A no-soliciting sign alone does not automatically prove criminal trespass. Document the exact
instruction to leave and what happened afterward.
